Port Washington Ice & Sand Fat-bike Excursion

We met up at the American Legion Post for a pre-ride beer and then hit the beach in Port Washington, WI on a bluebird February day for a frozen shoreline fat- bike ride. This video is three hours of riding condensed into a nine minute rolling adventure along ice shelves, sandy beach, and the kind of winter scenery that makes you glad you own a fat-bike.

This one’s light on talking and heavy on vibes. You’ll hear some chatter along the frozen Lake Michigan shoreline and a few words when we stop, but mostly it’s fat-bikes on sand and ice with a beautiful backdrop doing the talking. There are a couple of stream crossings, some general shenanigans, and a foot down derby – because what’s a group ride without a little competition?

If you’ve ever wondered what beach riding on a frozen Great Lake looks like, this is it.

  1. Popping a wheelie and popping a beer. That picture is worth a thousand words. And a great time was had by all.
