Summertime in Northern Wisconsin is synonymous with swimming in inland lakes. I love the waves of salty ocean water and the expansive horizon of the Great Lakes, but there is just something special about a warm summer evening and the serenity of inland lakes. Lazy waters carry the sounds of loons while panfish nibbling at your feet tempt those feeling ambitious to grab a pole and bobber in hopes of a free meal.
The upper Midwest is dotted with freshwater lakes, large and small. From my home compound in Seeley, WI, I generally pass at least two lakes on any ride I take that is more than 10 miles. With picuresque sandy beaches, they make for a perfect mid-ride stop for cooling off or the final stop before home after a sweaty ride.
