Today’s Wallpaper Wednesday with winter waterfalls is all about alliteration. In anticipation of the arrival of a new Titanium wood stove, Cowboy and I rode the Panorama Chic-Chocs 3 review bike out to/hike-a-biked into Springbrook Falls in Marengo, Wisconsin. It is my favorite lesser-known waterfall in the area. I wanted to see how deep the snow was in the forest and if I could camp next to it when the new wood stove arrives. Our snow total this winter is about 3ft less than average, so I was hopeful.

Getting to the waterfall requires a 1/2 mile hike-a-bike on some steep hills, but the snow has melted enough that it was no problem getting there. There is a nice flat area next to the waterfall I am considering camping at. I could also camp at the nearby Beaver Lake Campground. That Chequamegon National Forest campground is closed for the season, but I have asked the local ranger, and the NSF doesn’t mind if people use campgrounds in the winter. They should just know that the trash cans are locked, well pump handles removed, and there might not be TP in the pit toilets.
The Trump tariffs trade dumpster fire pushed me over the edge, and I pulled the trigger on a Winnerwell Fastfold Ultralight wood stove I have been eyeing for the last year or two. The end of winter is not when I would normally get more winter camping gear, but who knows if I will be able to get one next year and what it will cost? There are two importers in the United States. One supplier was out of stock, but I got the last one in the US from the other supplier, thanks Yuki!

I have owned a Titanium Goat wood stove for over a decade. The cylinder stove still works, but is super fiddly to put together with cold fingers. The combination of two round ends, a coiled sheet body, two wire rings and three spring rods is finicky to assemble in a warm garage, let alone when I am tired and sweaty outside in the snow.
As the name implies, the Winnerwell folds out fast and makes set-up easy, even with cold fingers. Fingers crossed it comes today as FedEx forecasts so I can get out camping in the next couple days before all the snow is gone. I will write up a winter camping report after I get back, and publish some video reviews of the new stove, so stay tuned to your Fat-Bike.com channel.
