I’m wondering if designers at Otso dressed the updated Voytek 2 in the new “Winter Tuxedo” monochrome paint scheme in preparation for a yet-to-be-announced 10th anniversary party. The full-spectrum “Double Spruce” and “Midnight Highlight” colors will appeal to those who want to bring a snappier sartorial style to the party.

After all, a New Year’s gala would be appropriate for the fat bike that helped spur the company’s launch back in 2016. The original Voytek changed the fat bike game with Otso’s rope-a-dope combo of a narrow Q-factor and a trail-oriented geo rolled up in a lightweight carbon frame. With 26″ x 4.6″ or 27.5″ x 4.5″ tires, it floats like a butterfly over soft snow and sand. Swap in 29er plus wheels, flip the tuning chip to shorten the chainstays, tweak the adjustable headtube angle, and the Voytek 2 shreds singletrack like an angry bee.

In Seth Bell’s original review of the Voytek for Fat-Bike.com, he wrote:
Once dialed in and pointed down the singletrack the Voytek came to life… this bike rips! Even with the Cake Eaters on there is room in the rear triangle to keep the ‘Tuning Chip’ in the forward position, giving the bike a short and sporty 430mm chainstay. Acceleration is snappy, and lofting over log piles and other obstacles is a breeze. The Voytek corners like a scared cat but never feels twitchy or over-reactive.

Earlier this year, my wife and I hosted a guy who came through town while riding his Voytek 2 more than 8,500 miles (!) across Canada on the Great Northern Bikepacking Route. I helped the route designer a bit on the section of that route that comes through Minnesota, Wisconsin and the UP to avoid busy highways in that section of Canada. So the route developer listed me as a resource on the route.
Coincidentally, after breakfast with our guest at the Velo Cafe in Cable, WI, we ran into Mike Pfieffer outside by his Wolf Tooth-branded vintage Toyota Tacoma. I introduced our new friend to Mike as one of the founders of Otso, and the guy went all fan boy. He could not say enough good things about his Voytek 2 being so versatile that it is his only mountain bike.
It has been a while since the test pilots at Fat-Bike.com threw leg over an Otso, so stay tuned for an updated review of the Voytek 2 later this fall or winter. In the meantime, check out all the details on the just updated pages for the Otso Voytek 2.
